Cell Biotech participated in the food ingredient expo ‘SSW 2024 (SupplySide West 2024)’ held in Las Vegas, USA. Cell Biotech plans to actively target the US market with K-Probiotics, which has the largest number of US FDA GRAS listings.
This SSW 2024 was held for two days from October 30th to 31st at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center. This is the largest global food ingredient expo in North America, and this year, 1,500 global companies set up booths and 20,000 buyers attended. At the expo, you could see various food ingredients and services such as health functional foods, food and beverages, pet food, production facilities, and OEM.
Cell Biotech set up a separate booth at this expo and actively promoted the excellence, technology, and research results of Korean probiotics centered around the DUOLAC brand. In particular, this year, the safety of ‘Korean probiotics’ was proven by the world’s largest number of ‘FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe)’ probiotics, which garnered more attention. FDA GRAS is the highest level of safety raw material recognition system of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), and the entry barrier is very high due to the strict verification process.
During the exhibition, Cell Biotech booth was visited by corporate representatives from all over the world and actively consulted about products and exports. It was an opportunity to once again prove the excellence of Korean probiotics listed as FDA GRAS and the exclusive world patent ‘dual coating’ technology.
Cell Biotech said, “It was an important time for Duolac, the No. 1 K-Probiotics brand, to strengthen existing partnerships with global business partners and establish a foundation for entering the U.S. market,” and added, “The FDA GRAS listing has become the most powerful weapon to lead the globalization of Korean probiotics, and we will continue to do our best in research and development and strengthening our technological capabilities to gain an advantage in competition with global companies.”
Cell Biotech is a first-generation bio venture company that succeeded in mass production of probiotics for the first time in Korea in 1995, and has continued to compete and exchange with health functional food companies around the world by participating in numerous international exhibitions since 2002. Thanks to these efforts, Cell Biotech’s products are currently exported to 55 countries, and have ranked No. 1 in global exports for 11 consecutive years. It has also been recognized in Denmark, the birthplace of lactic acid bacteria, and has ranked No. 2 in market share.
