Cell Biotech's probiotic brand, DUOLAC, has successfully entered all 14 Costco stores in Taiwan simultaneously, as announced on the 26th. This marks a significant milestone for the brand, which has been distributing probiotic raw materials in Taiwan through B2B suppliers. The entry into Costco, known for its high barriers to entry, is expected to accelerate DUOLAC's expansion in the Taiwanese market.
The company highlighted the importance of this achievement, noting that DUOLAC's entry into Costco under its own brand, despite the stringent requirements, underscores the recognition of its product's excellence.
Currently, Cell Biotech exports Korean probiotics to 55 countries worldwide and has maintained its position as the top exporter for 11 consecutive years. In a global probiotic market dominated by foreign companies like DuPont Danisco from the U.S. and Chr. Hansen from Denmark, DUOLAC continues to demonstrate the strength of Korean probiotics.
The product showcased in Taiwan's Costco is DUOLAC's children's probiotic, already available in all 19 Costco stores across South Korea. The company emphasized that the product uses only safe strains listed under the U.S. FDA's GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) and incorporates the world-patented "dual-coating" technology, which ensures strong survival rates and allows for room temperature storage.
Lee Jin-yong, head of Cell Biotech's overseas business division, stated, "This entry into Taiwan's Costco is an excellent opportunity to expand our distribution channels in Taiwan and the broader Chinese-speaking market. We hope to connect directly with Taiwanese customers and gain even greater support."
