LACTOClear, a skin microbiome brand of Cell Biotech, has been selected for the '2024 Innovative Growth Skin Health Basic Technology Development Project' national project hosted by the 'Skin Basic Technology Development Project Group' under the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The project period is until December 2025, and the total research cost is 230 million won.
This national project is part of the Ministry of Health and Welfare's cosmetics R&D support project to secure the sustainable growth engine of K-beauty, and focuses on ▲development of skin health promotion technology ▲development of high value-added basic materials ▲development of export strategic cosmetics. Among these, LACTOClear will be in charge of the 'Regulatory Response Evaluation Technology Support' project, proactively responding to regulations in the Chinese cosmetics market and developing export strategic products.
Lactoclear aims to register ‘LACTOPAD’, which improves acne and skin troubles, as a new cosmetic raw material in the China NMPA (National Medical Products Administration). To this end, it is conducting a human efficacy evaluation test to prove the safety and efficacy of LACTOPAD in accordance with Chinese regulations, and plans to create new opportunities in the Chinese cosmetics market through successful completion of the task.
LACTOPAD is a natural antibacterial substance discovered by Cell Biotech through probiotics fermentation science. It is a type of bacteriocin extracted from probiotics and has the characteristic of selectively killing only harmful skin microorganisms. Based on this, it improves acne and skin troubles and maintains healthy skin without irritation. This antibacterial substance has obtained European Cosmetic Certification(CPNP) and has been patented as an antibacterial cosmetic composition.
According to Team Leader Lee Yeo-jun of Lactoclear at Cell Biotech, “The entry barrier to registering new cosmetics ingredients in China’s NMPA is so high that only two companies in Korea have succeeded, but Lactoclear will definitely succeed in this national project and establish a foothold for entering China,” and “Lactoclear has already achieved the highest grade in the skin irritation test and international vegan certification, and has further increased its brand value by being selected for this national project.”
Meanwhile, Lactoclear is Cell Biotech’s skin trouble skincare brand that has been researching only Korean probiotics for 29 years and producing and selling the safe probiotics ‘DUOLAC’. It manages the skin microbiome by applying probiotics fermentation science to the skin, and its acne care products based on natural probiotics ingredients are receiving great responses from consumers.
